German World War 2 1944 late production S84/98 3rd pattern K98 Mauser bayonet.

The set is in an amazing condition, with factory finish rating at 95%. The grip guard has no dents, dark cherry red bakelite grips are tight and the blade is untouched without any damage. In the field of bayonet collecting this is considered a matching set. Bayonet and scabbard have the same maker - FNJ 44 for Alexander Coppel Gmbh.,1944. Series is the same- M, and the numbers on the bayonet are 9233, and 9272 on the scabbard, off by 39. It was either put together like this by a factory worker (very common mistake on the late war variants, especially considering majority of the production was being handled by forced labor) or American soldier put them together at the factory level at the time of liberation. Both bayonet and scabbard have identical wear and patina and are 100% guaranteed to be a wartime matching set.
